My experience has been that they run pretty much to size. The Yves Saint Laurent is a pretty good shirt, which is made of 100% cotton. The material seems to be durable and the t-shirt seems to last quite a long time. I especially like the ides that it does not fade as fast as other shirts.

One thing I do not like about the Yves Saint Laurent shirts is that they are extremely expensive. For the money they costs, I prefer to buy the Gucci shirts. And more than the Yves Saint Laurent shirts, I like their purses!

Anyways, I give the Yves Saint Laurent two thumbs up and I think if your brother wears a large, you should get him a large because it has been my experience that they are pretty much the size on the tag.
