The clothes are perfect, the face is clean and shaven, and the cologne smells great. Now, what about the hair? You know... that thing people can see out of the corner of their eye. The part of the appearance that can simply NOT go unnoticed. (without a hat, anyway) A little bit of caution must be taken when choosing a new style. I'm not positive, but I don't think the "mohawk" will help at the next executive function. Then again, the "conservative trim" won't help you get backstage at the next rock concert, either.
So, how do you make this crucial, but everyday decision? Simply put, stick to the basics. Unless you're trying to make a statement, there are basic styles for everyone's hair. Trendy hairstyles are either short & spiky or long & relaxed. Classic cuts are always short and nicely fitted. Everything else falls somewhere between the two, except for the wild & unique.(mohawk, buzz cut, etc.) Whatever type of hair you have, and however you choose to wear it, it's the variations you make to these basic styles that define your hair.
Variations on short hair are most prominent in the bangs. You can bring them forward (Caesar), push them back, push them to the side, or stick them straight up! With mid-length hair, the two basic choices are messy or neat. The neat look makes every hair seem glued(which it sometimes is) to the head in a perfect position. The messy look involves a bit more than just rolling out of bed. Men who choose the messy look often spend more time than the "neat-look" guys trying to make sure their hair is perfectly messy. Usually this involves switching from gel to paste, which is a more glue-like version of hair gel which keeps the messed-up look messy, but in a good way. Finally, long hair seems to be making a comeback for those who know how to wear it. If you're going to choose this option, you have to make sure you have time to spend on it. Although, with a proper & professional cut, it can be as simple as running a brush through after washing.
